2. Binding the brench to the department network
Below Figure 2.1 shows the general computer network structure scheme of
«Communication network” department which is a network environment for laboratory bench simulating access network segment. Normally the access point is connected to Ethernet switch (input Switch is in Laboratory class 417). This switch is a port to a local network of Academy (now this network address is192.168.1.0/24). Another port of this switch is connected to the Server 4 in Laboratory class 415 which is the gateway to internal local
network switch Sw1 (24 ports) and Sw3 (16 ports). The last switch
maintains network of laboratory class 416. Exactly in this network access point should be included (instead of one computer).
Figure 1-2. General scheme of the computer network of “Communication Network” department
Computer is disconnected from the internal network as well as its neighbours are connected by their wired interfaces using two additional patch cords to LAN port of access point.
Another computer is connected to
wireless adapter via the interface cable for radio access networks.
2.3. Configuring of network access equipment
Figure 2. 2. shows general functional scheme of access network
laboratory bench on the base of DI-524 router. Despite the laboratory bench
computers on the network access you can connect a portable laptops with
built-in WiFi adapters.
Figure 2 -Network access configuration .
Based on the functional schema you can create different learning Lab configurations:
-access point in the mode of wired Ethernet switch;
- access point in mode radio-Ethernet switch;
-access point in the gateway mode;
-access pointin the mode NAT Proxy;
-access point in the mode of simple and complex firewall;
-realization of single-rank Ad Hoc networks mode ;
-static routing of local network hosts .
2.4. Installing the radio-access adapter
DWL-AG DWL-G 132 and 133 Adapter Installation Guide
1 Check whether the PC 1 folder E: \INSTALL\Wi-Fi-Adapter. Then give folder access.
2 To install drivers on PC 2 test connectionshould be checked in a single local area network PC 1with PC 2.
3 Run the installation file in the folder E:: \INSTALL\Wi-Fi-Adapter\V2.20 Build
51031 S0003\SETUP.
4 in the installation wizard execute next commands: next-next-“yes”,restart now.
5 After you restart the computer check for an icon in the screen bottom right corner . If the icon is green the installation of DWL-AG 132 successfully concluded,
connection to a wireless network is set up and ready to go.
6 If the program icon is not visible then double-clicking on the the label program shortcut on the desktop.
7 Check the status of the wireless network connection by pressing a button
right-click in the upper-right corner of your screen. In the next window you can
monitor connection status, connection duration, bitrate,
signal strength, etc.
8 Double-clicking on the icon to enter the Setup menu of the TCP/IP Protocol, where must be set to auto and protocol options confirm the changes.
