The abundance of clean water, continually monitored and checked to keep it as such and to eliminate any possible pollution, comprises one of the greatest natural resources in Trentino. Fishing rod and line enthusiasts will find over 1,100 kilometres of torrents and rivers and about 300 lakes and basins in which to cast their hooks. It has been estimated that each year 35,000 people - among these almost 1,300 foreign visitors come here to fish for especially prized species such as marbled or rainbow and brook trout or even grayling, pike and carp. Fishing is particularly pleasant in the mountain torrents or lakes and it is for this reason that crowds of enthusiasts bring their equipment when coming on holiday or perhaps for the weekend. Fishing is organised and monitored by 34 territorial fishing associations which draw up the fishing calendar and the best ways to achieve a correct lifespan for the fish which must be protected, especially during reproduction periods. This is why each fishing association issues its own regulations which may differ from those of another area. It is therefore necessary to be informed regarding rules and regulations when purchasing a fishing permit (daily or weekly).
