I AM A BOOKWORM
I’m proud to be a bookworm. Some people might say it’s boring and just not cool to love reading as much as I do, but I’m not worried about what they might say or think.
can still remember how happy I was when I was little and I went shopping on Saturdays with my mum. On the way home my mum often took me to the bookshop. I chose from the big pile of picture books and fairy tales, then I moved on to other books. I couldn’t read some of them at first but I was glad to have books waiting for me for when I was old enough to read them. Later on, I bought second-hand books, so I could make my pocket money stretch further and get more books.
Every book is special — I can remember all the books I’ve read.
В Reading is a great way to get away from the things that bother you — without having to go anywhere. You just use your imagination.
For me, reading has always been fun, but it meant even more to me a couple of years ago. My parents were fighting all the time, so every weekend I’d get out of the house and go down to the library and take out three or four books. Sometimes I used to read in the library, then go home and read in my room. I’m pleased to say my parents get on better now and reading isn’t as an escape from everyday life anymore, I just do it for sheer pleasure. I’m lucky to be a bookworm because it has taught me so much and I wish everyone could love reading as much as I do. I am lucky because I am a bookworm.
What does reading mean to me? That’s easy — entertainment, enjoyment, happiness, strong emotions. Literature can make me laugh and cry, and sometimes it even makes me angry. Once I had to stop reading a sci-fi book because in it they destroyed books to stop people thinking for themselves. Just thinking about burning books made me so mad!
