By law contracts are made in writing. When striking a deal, standard contracts are widely used. Standard contracts are not a must. Some articles can be altered and supplemented. Each contract must be tailored to suit the particular transaction.

Archaic expressions

The adverbials derived from the adverbs here, there and where, are frequently used in the contract law and throughout the law genre for reasoning and inferential judgment across the official style and the public administration services’ paperwork.

An adverb with the meaning of ‘in, at, or to which place or situation’, a reference is made in the text, changes its meaning depending of the combination it enters:

e.g. whereas means ‘because of the fact that’ (беручи до уваги, оскільки, не зважаючи на те, що); whereby (відповідно до чого, в результаті чого, завдяки чому)

There is a number of examples to assist you, e.g.:

• as expressly provided otherwise hereunder (за винятком випадків, зазначених в цьому договорі);

• either party hereto (кожна сторона (будь-яка зі сторін) цього договору; одна зі сторін цього договору);

• constituting an inseparable part hereof (є невід’ємною частиною цього договору);

• to make revisions in and amendments to the provisions hereof (вносити зміни і доповнення до положень цього договору (документа);

• to the address specified hereinabove (за вищевказаною адресою);

• with the respect to the subject hereof (що стосується предмета договору);
