45. Scorpio flight deck

(DAYNA stands by the teleport controls, impressed.)

DAYNA: That was clever! Tarrant must be brighter than he looks...

SLAVE: I’ll say just one word. Fuel!

46. Algor’s chamber

(Knowing Avon is alive and after blood, ALGOR is awaiting the inevitable confrontation. He spins around the door to the chamber crashes open. AVON flings himself through, firing as he does so. ALGOR wheels away out of danger as AVON dives behind the console. ALGOR opens fire with his wheelchair-mounted machine guns, but the gunfire only succeeds in shattering the screen and sending debris everywhere. After a moment, ALGOR stops firing – the guns have jammed. The incredulous ALGOR, realizing he is now defenseless, wheels himself backwards into his living quarters and out of sight. Meanwhile, AVON lies wounded behind the shattered screen – blood pours from his right hand, which means his pump-action gun (requiring two hands) is useless. He tosses it aside and, unarmed, manages to get to his feet and head for the living quarters after ALGOR.)

47. Algor’s bathroom

(ALGOR has wheeled himself to the far side of the bath, which is full of water. ALGOR snatches up a dagger as AVON appears in the doorway. The crippled genius hurls the dagger at AVON but misses. AVON spots a long iron bar, one of the room’s wall-struts, just above head height. He leaps, grabs the bar and swings across the bath to land in front of ALGOR, who is trying to wheel away, but there is nowhere to go. AVON grabs ALGOR’s wheelchair and swings it round, tipping ALGOR out of the chair and into the bath. Then AVON plunges into the water after ALGOR and grabs him around the neck. ALGOR thrashes around in the waters, but eventually he subsides and AVON pushes his head under the surface. AVON climbs out of the bath, then looks back at the still body floating in the water. AVON frowns suddenly as he realizes something, then runs out...)

48. Algor’s chamber

(AVON rushes in and clears the debris from the console, allowing access to the microphone. He speaks into it.)

AVON: Tarrant, listen to me! Tarrant, listen...

49. Seashore

(TARRANT, VILA and SOOLIN hear AVON’s voice through Algor’s loudspeakers.)

AVON: (vo) Tarrant, listen to me!

TARRANT: I’m listening! I hope you’re about to come up with something good!

AVON: (vo) Tarrant, listen! The robot will not function in water. Its electrical components will be damaged beyond repair! Water, Tarrant, is your ally! Water, water...

(AVON’s voice fades from the loudspeakers.)

SOOLIN: You heard what he said! Let’s go!

(First SOOLIN, then VILA, and finally TARRANT rush into the sea and start to swim. GABOR proceeds along the shoreline.)

50. Algor’s chamber

(AVON wearily sinks onto the chaise lounge and surveys the destruction around him.)

51. Scorpio flight deck

(The dim lights are fluctuating.)

SLAVE: I’m getting very worried about the fuel situation...

DAYNA: You’re getting worried?

SLAVE: I just said that!

DAYNA: (into communicator) Tarrant? Tarrant, where the hell are you?

SLAVE: Language!

52. SEA

(TARRANT, VILA and SOOLIN have swum out to sea and are now treading water as they look towards the shore. GABOR is watching them from a rocky promontory over the sea. After a moment, the robot dives into the sea, then surfaces, and starts to swim, but slowly sinks beneath the waves, leaving nothing but a mass of bubbles. TARRANT, VILA and SOOLIN strike out for the beach and come ashore as the bubbles turn to a huge explosion, sending a great spout of water into the air. AVON heads down the beach towards them as all four watch the spout.)

AVON: Algor is dead.

TARRANT: His super-robot isn’t too healthy either.
