Text №4 Piston Diaphragm Pump1
The ABEL Piston Diaphragm Pump Range has been especially developed for operations with increased flow rates combined with high operating pressures. During the last 15 years we have constantly developed our products to comply with the latest challenges and requirements in the industry.
ABEL Piston Diaphragm Pumps are available as single or double-acting models2 as well as assuring an increased performance, reliable functionality and especially low operating and maintenance costs3. They can be utilized for flow rates up to 100 ml/h, and up to 10.0 MPa operation pressure. The ABEL Pumps are equipped with pre-formed membranes which remain stable throughout the duration of the pumping operations. The ABEL construction method has been tested in many various industries, as well as with very difficult media, and has been proved to be operationally secure as well as providing a very high membrane service life time. The parts of the pump which will come into contact with the materials to be pumped are made of nodular cast iron4 (also rubber-coated), polypropylene, cast steel or stainless steel.
This pump model has developed into the first choice product for critical process operations, such as spray dryer5 feeding or also for the transport of highly abrasive slurries6 containing heterogeneous grain sizes. When utilized as a filter press feed pump7 with a pressure sensor control, this piston diaphragm pump model is very energy efficient, has a long service life8 and a high operational capacity9.

Components of a Simple Centrifugal Compressor
A simple centrifugal compressor has four components: inlet1, impeller2/rotor, diffuser3, and collector.
Inlet
The inlet to a centrifugal compressor is typically a simple pipe. It may include features such as a valve, stationary vanes/airfoils4 (used to help swirl the flow) and both pressure and temperature instrumentation. All of these additional devices have important uses in the control of the centrifugal compressor.
Centrifugal impeller
The key component that makes a compressor centrifugal is the centrifugal impeller. It is the impeller's rotating set of vanes (or blades5) that gradually raises the energy of the working gas. This is identical to an axial compressor with the exception that the gases can reach higher velocities and energy levels through the impeller's increasing radius.
Diffuser
The next key component to the simple centrifugal compressor is the diffuser. Downstream of the impeller in the flow path, it is the diffuser's responsibility to convert the kinetic energy (high velocity) of the gas into pressure by gradually slowing (diffusing) the gas velocity. Diffusers can be vaneless, vaned6 or an alternating combination. High efficiency vaned diffusers are also designed over a wide range of solidities7 from less than 1 to over 4.
