The name composition of every nation is formed historically. It is multi-layer; there are names from different languages and different times. Every religion dictates its own set of words. Doing the research we have learnt that names of different nations date back to different periods of their cultural and historical development. There are very few names of old-Russian, old-English and old-Bashkir origins. Most Russian names are borrowed from European, Scandinavian and Arabian countries. A lot of new names came into Russian after the adoption of Christianity. Bashkir names were borrowed from Arabian, Persian and old-Turkic languages. Some names appeared after the adoption of Islam. Nowadays new names come into Bashkir from European countries and Russia.
Education, ethnicity, religion, class and political ideology affect parents' choice of names. In developed countries popular names tend to be chosen by parents with more education. Politically conservative parents choose common and traditional names, while politically liberal parents choose the names of literary characters or other relatively obscure cultural figures.
Devout members of religions often choose names from their religious scriptures. For example, Muslim parents may name a boy Mohammed after the prophet or Christian parents may name a girl Mary.
There are many tools parents can use to choose names, including books, websites and applications.
We have learnt a lot about our names and the names of our classmates.
