Physical-Technical Institute

The Department of Physics Faculty was founded in 1957. In 2011 it was renamed Physical-Technical Institute.

The Physical-Technical Institute of the Bashkir State University trains specialists for different branches of industry, academic institutions, public offices, research workers for plants and laboratories, teachers for schools and higher schools.

The Institute provides a broad engineering education. The main subject there is Physics which is one of the most ancient sciences about nature. It deals with mechanical motion, heat, sound, electricity, magnetism, light and other phenomena, which can be described in terms of matter and energy.

Physics is a very broad subject area – it has a lot of fields: atomic physics, nuclear physics, physics fundamental particles, solid-state physics, etc. According to the purposes of research physics divides itself into two great branches: experimental and theoretical physics.

Physics is closely linked with mathematics, chemistry, astronomy and biology. At present remarkable discoveries can be made at the junction of these sciences. Physics has become one of the prime movers of the progress, that’s why much attention is being given to its development in our country.

The Physical-Technical Institute provides excellent facilities for academic studies, practical and research work. Students work much in well-equipped laboratories to gain direct practical experience in modern physics under the supervision of skilled analysts and scientific leaders (supervisors). Some of the students carry out original investigations which often find practical applications.

The Physical-Technical Institute provides a spectrum of specialties. Specialization begins in the third year in the following branches: theoretical physics, applied physics, physical electronics, solid state physics, geophysics, optics, computer methods in physics. The most capable students go on to research at postgraduate courses after graduating from the University.
