It was a beautiful summer day!
The sun was shining brightly,
The birds were singing loudly,
The sky was smiling widely!
And I yelled:
«It’s our landlord’s party today!
Hurray! Hurray! Hurray!»
A cat-mum: You did a great job, my dear. I liked your ideas to write the composition much and I’m sure Mrs. Pussy will like it too.

Past Perfect
One day a couple of two ostriches Jim and Mariella saw an advertisement about the running race. It was held in honour of celebrating The Past Perfect day where each comment would be explained using the rules of The Past Perfect. Despite they didn’t go in for sport much, they decided to take part in it. The race was a very important event that’s why 2 commentators were invited.
All the ostriches who found themselves the quickest ones could participate in the race. But no one hoped that our heroes Jim and Mariella would be the leaders.
The I commentator: So, everyone could see that Jim had reached the finish line
before his wife Mariella got there.
The II commentator: It was a past action which occurred before another action
or before a stated past time.
The I commentator: Now everybody could notice that Jim was very happy
because he had won tha race!
The II commentator: It was a complete past action which had visible results in the
past.
The I commentator: But we should have noticed that the judge couldn’t leave the
winner’s wife Mariella without a prize as she had won the
second place.
The II commentator: It was the sentence where The Past Perfect was the equivalent
of The Present Perfect, which could be expressed in following way:
The judge can’t leave the winner’s wife Mariella without
a prize as she has won the second place.
Finally, Jim was given a prize which was in the shape of a golden egg with a sign «The strongest & the quickest» on it. And his wife Mariella received another golden egg with a sign «The most beautiful wife of the strongest & the quickest»
Future Simple
In
a big thick green forest there is a wise Owl named Olly who can say
everything what will be in the nearest future. But she can predict
only using the rules of The Future Simple Tense. And once her friend
Rabbit named Robby decided to visit the Owl’s home, which is her
massive oak tree.
Robby: Hello, Olly! How are you?
Olly: Hello, Robby! I’m as fit as a fiddle. It’s getting dark now, so I’ll turn on
the light, and it’s rather cold here, so I’ll close the hollow if you don’t
mind.
Robby: I don’t mind, moreover, I agree with you, it’s really cold and dark here.
You’ve used Future Simple in your statement.
How can you name the rule of using this tense?
Olly: Yes, of course. It is a delicious taken at the moment of speaking
or so-called on-the-spot decision.
Robby: Oh, thank you, it’s so interesting to know the rules. By the way, do you
know what will the weather be like tomorrow?
Olly: Well, I’m afraid it will rain tomorrow morning, but I expect the sky will
be clear in the afternoon. All the words which refer to the future time
I can put in the following list: hopes, fears, threats, offers, promises,
warnings, predictions, requests, comments, especially with the verbs like:
expect, hope, believe, I'm sure, I'm afraid, probably etc.
Robby: I see, I’ll remember that. Oh, just look! What a beautiful couple of loving
bears Judy and Jake. They will probably merry soon, won’t they?
Olly: It was an action or prediction which may happen in the future to your
mind. But don’t you know they are already married and their baby-bear
will be two next month. This is an action which we cannot control and
will inevitably happen.
Robby: You are fully informed. I didn’t know that.
Olly: By the way, several squirrels and hedgehogs will probably move to our
forest as we have a friendly atmosphere.
Robby: Oh, that’s great, are you sure?
Olly: No, this refers to the things we are not sure about or haven’t decided to do
yet.
But we really hope so.
Robby: I was glad to meet you. You’ve told me so many interesting events.
Good-bye!
Olly: Bye!
