(Т.С. Самохина, е.М. Дианова Text pp.125-131).

In spite of transience of epochs, mankind needs always those, who teaches and puts somebody on his best behavior. It is teacher who did it. Teacher is a special calling. It’s not a job well-suited for everyone. In fact, many new teachers leave within the first 3-5 years of teaching. They should work extremely hard to improve their professional competence.

Globalization makes our planet a smaller place, where the role of English in the process of modernization, science, technology is significant. English is spoken all over the world. National consideration in Russia cannot prevent English from becoming the language of international communication. So it seems that, the graduate of an English department at the beginning of 21 century seems to be in the right place at the right time.

Perestroika challenged the exiting standards of language competence. The effectiveness of student’s performance acquired new terms of linguistic effectiveness, like body-language, facial expression, gestures, and extra-linguistic competence (cultural awareness). Without awareness of what goes on in the world, nobody cannot claim to be effective teacher of communication in the world.

Effective teaching is a process of socializing students into new behavioral norms and ways of working. Whether in classrooms or at work sites, good teachers are recognized for their expertise. As learners mature and become more competent, they offer less direction and give more responsibility as students progress from dependent learners to independent workers. Effective teaching must be planned and conducted "from the learner's point of view". It means that teachers adapt their knowledge to learners' levels of understanding and ways of thinking. So teachers should motivate their students, awake students to values and ideologies that are embedded in texts and common practices within their disciplines.  In such way they can improve their own lives and the lives of others.

There are advantages and disadvantages by teaching profession. Pro’s of being a teacher are:

1) Work with Kids is very interesting and fun.

2) You have summers and holidays off, which are usually paid. 3) Students who want to learn make you sure that you do your work not in vain. 4) If you get to work with the kids, and do it well, they usually adore  you. For me it’s the most important moment. It really is a rewarding profession all things aside.

Contra’s of this profession are:

1) Not a lot of money, in Russia usually not enough for life. Son not all people can afford themselves to be a teacher by profession

2) a lot of paperwork

3) Students who have no desire to learn, their absenteeism or students who do not complete their work, then want to know why you gave them a failing grade.

4) Sometimes unsupportive parents of your students. If you teach at school, you should make phone calls to parents. This is not a pleasant work.

In spite of all this disadvantages if you really love teaching, you will be able to look past the cons. It's up to each person or especially undergraduates of pedagogical universities to decide to be or not to be a teacher. I think if you're really interested in becoming a teacher, the pros and cons other people tell you about won't matter all that much. You just should be able to enrich your student's lives.

24. Some scientists claim that charisma is the natural ability to attract people. But most of them believe that though there are people (like Johnny Depp and Marilyn Monroe) who are naturally charismatic still it can be learned and practiced. Psychologists estimate that charisma is 50 % innate and 50 % trained.(Total English. Advanced. Unit 6.3 p. 82)

The adjective “charismatic” refers to someone who possesses the quality of charisma. Charisma is a trait that is not commonly обычно found in people. A charismatic person is one who is charming and attracts others. The most popular leaders are often charismatic people as they have the ability to inspire in people zeal рвение and loyalty ['lɔɪəltɪ] преданность towards themselves.

The word charisma is of Greek origin. It means 'present' or 'godly gift'. This quality is found in particular persons and generally includes tremendous [trɪ'mendəs] огромный charm and a quality that can be only called as magnetic. Such individuals are usually very good with their communicative skills and have a knack [næk] of convincing or persuading [pə'sweɪd] people. A charismatic person is normally rather sophisticated in his approach towards people, and can influence almost anyone with his interpersonal skills.

Steve Jobs had charisma. He is the most charismatic person I know. It means something about the force of his personality and its effects on those who worked for him at Apple. More broadly, it has something to do with his gradual emergence as a cultural icon over the past decade. The wave of emotion that washed across the Internet following the news of his death is the evidence of how important he was to many people.

According to Joan Collins, Bill Clinton “eats you up with his eyes”. It’s difficult to understand, whether it’s magic or trick. Of course, Bill Clinton, Ronald Reagan, Madonna, Diana (Princess of Wales) and Mohammed Ali have loads of charisma. Hard as we try to understand it, the formula remains elusive. All we can do is watch the masters at work and learn from them.

Charisma is usually associated [-ʃɪeɪtɪd] with politicians [ˌpɔlɪ'tɪʃ(ə)n], businesspeople and celebrities. People in other fields can have it too. Most of the great leaders possessed a star quality. These qualities drew others to them and helped them gain power and success. Churchill, Napoleon and Martin Luther King had a magnetism which is easier to identify with than to explain. There are some people who are just naturally charismatic, like Johnny Depp, David Bowie, Marilyn Monroe. But probably there are techniques and skills which can be learned and practised. Charisma can be learned, but it can’t be faked. Whatever skills and techniques you have they are rooted in your own personality.

Max Weber thought charisma remained an important and indeed ineradicable [ˌɪnɪ'rædɪkəbl] (неискоренимый) force in society [sə'saɪətɪ]. Charisma is a quality attributed to individuals, but it is more than personality, charm, celebrity or glamour, of course, but calling someone charismatic is a description, not an endorsement.

Charisma is partly a personal quality, but also a social relation. Charismatic leaders are internally driven ['drɪv(ə)n], but they also need to be externally recognized as exceptional and, crucially, they must succeed to some degree in order to find the followers they seek.

Charismatic people often exude quiet confidence and assertiveness in their manner of speech, even though [ðəu] they evoke such strong emotional reactions in other people. The person has that certain aura or personality that makes you take notice of them. So charismatic leaders, by the way, do not have to be kind, ethical, or pleasant people.

25. People cannot avoid thinking that their own culture does things “the right way” and everything else is therefore wrong, but there are no cultural rights or wrongs, only differences. The greatest divider of nations is ignorance, and so the first solution is knowledge.
