Robert Brahmson’s scenario-based approach identifies five thinking
styles to categorize our modes of thinking and problem solving we use
most frequently.
Five Thinking Styles According to Bramson, the five thinking styles are:
Synthesists
Idealists
Pragmatist Thinkers
Analyst Thinkers
Realist Thinkers
Synthesists According to Bramson, "Synthesists are creative thinkers who perceives the world in terms of opposites. When you say black, they think white, when you say long, they think short." To connect with Synthesists, Bramson suggests "listen appreciatively to their speculation and don’t confuse their arguing nature with resistance."
Idealists According to Bramson, "Idealists believe in lofty goals and standards." To connect with Idealists, Bramson suggests "associate what you want to do with these goals of quality, service, and community good."
Pragmatic Thinkers According to Bramson, "Pragmatic thinkers are flexible, resourceful folk who look for immediate payoff rather than for a grand plan that will change the world."
To connect with Pragmatists, Bramson suggests "emphasize short-term objectives on which you can get started with resources at hand."
Analyst Thinkers According to Bramsom, "Analyst thinkers equate accuracy, thoroughness, and attention to detail with completeness. They are likely to gather data, measure it, categorize it, and rationally and methodically calculate the right answer to any problem you come up with. To connect to Analysts, Bramson suggests "provide a logical plan replete with back-up data and specifications."
Realist Thinkers According to Bramson, "Realist thinkers are fast moving doers who know that reality is what their senses – sight, sound, taste, smell, and touch – tell them it is, and not that dry stuff that one finds in accounting ledgers, or the insipid pages of manual of operations."
Synthesists are integrators. They delight in finding relationships in things which, to others, have no apparent connection. In a group discussion, they are likely to champion an opposite point of view, and are therefore valuable in avoiding "group think." Synthesists tend to be highly creative people, very interested in change and highly speculative. To others, they may appear argumentative at times, and their pattern of thought may appear somewhat disjointed. Idealists take a broad, holistic view of things, tending to be future-oriented and to think about goals. They are also interested in social values. We could say that they are "big picture" people. Correspondingly, they tend not to like detail. Pragmatists have a bias for action. They like to get things done and their approach is often flexible and adaptive. The model of the pragmatist is, "whatever works." Unlike idealists, their solutions do not have to be the most elegant. Analysts tend to be logical, structured and prescriptive. They prefer predictability and rationality, and will look for a method, a formula, or procedure to solve a particular problem. Analysts believe there is "one best way" to solve any problem. Realists take an empirical view. Their world consists of what can be felt, smelled, touched, seen, heard, and personally observed or experienced. They are interested in concrete results And, at times, may appear to be too results-oriented. In thinking styles, the realist resembles the analyst. Both are factual and focused on concrete facts, but unlike the analyst, the realist will finally run out of patience and become frustrated with the analyst's endless search for data.
About half of any population would be expected to have a peak in a single thinking style. 35% of people have peaks in two thinking styles, with the most common combinations being analyst/realist, idealist/analyst, and synthesist/idealist. The rarest combination is synthesist/realist. Two percent of the general population has a preference for three styles. About 13 percent exhibit relatively flat profiles, with neither peaks nor valleys. Keep in mind that while one or two styles predominates for most people, about fifteen percent use all five styles equally.
Realist:
"Realist thinkers are fast moving doers who know that reality is what their senses – sight, sound, taste, smell, and touch – tell them it is, and not that dry stuff that one finds in accounting ledgers, or the insipid pages of manual of operations." People tend use one of a handful of relatively standard ways to think, learn, process information,
1) способность заранее выбрать стратегию (т. е. последовательность или сеть действий или мыслей менеджера);
2) способность сравнивать достигнутое с намеченным;
Idealists:
"Idealists believe in lofty goals and standards." To connect with Idealists, Bramson suggests "associate what you want to do with these goals of quality, service, and community good."
Analyst-А
"Analyst thinkers equate accuracy, thoroughness, and attention to detail with completeness. They are likely to gather data, measure it, categorize it, and rationally and methodically calculate the right answer to any problem you come up with. Bramson suggests "provide a logical plan replete with back-up data and specifications."
Synthesists "Synthesists are creative thinkers who perceives the world in terms of opposites. When you say black, they think white, when you say long, they think short." Bramson suggests "listen appreciatively to their speculation and don’t confuse their arguing nature with resistance."
Pragmatic
According to Bramson, "Pragmatic thinkers are flexible, resourceful folk who look for immediate payoff rather than for a grand plan that will change the world."
"emphasize short-term objectives on which you can get started with resources at hand."

ТHE THINKING STYLE TEST
We group the many functions of our brain into four classes, the so-called thinking styles. These are designated A, B, C and D. Practical application of this model has proven to be very handy for many areas in which thinking, acting, communicating and intuiting are concerned, and of course, in the areas that consolidate all factors, namely learning and teaching. It does not tell you “everything you always wanted to know about your brain”, but it facilitates an impetus to think about the self and our forms of interaction with others, including and especially in the field of knowledge transfer - the field of teaching and learning as a communication phenomenon with particularly varied forms of action and a high density level.
Ned Herrmann developed this thinking style model in the USA in the 1970’s. Named for him, the Herrmann Brain Dominance Instrument or “HBDI” has meanwhile proven itself around the world. “Dominance” here alludes to the fact that in any given brain, each of the four classes is represented to a different degree and so usually (at least) one of them is particularly strongly pronounced, or dominant. We then refer to an A-type, ... Dtype. The expression of the thinking style dominances varies greatly from one person to the next, but whatever the expression, it is deserving of respect from others.
The four classes are customarily assigned to the four quadrants of a circle, so that one also refers to “A-quadrant”, … “D-quadrant”. The test allows you to determine numerical values for each of your four quadrants, which in turn allows a broad statement to be made about the dominances in your thinking style. The four numbers together form the “profile” for your thinking style.
THE FOUR QUADRANTS AS DEFINED BY NED HERRMANN. William Edward "Ned" Herrmann (1922 - December 24, 1999) is known for his research in creative thinking and whole-brain methods
A („blue“):
Thinks analytically, does not engage with anything that is not "explainable". A relies on figures and facts. On this basis, A feels secure to act. A generally perceives "psychobabble" as negative, but accepts it if based on unequivocal research results.
"Hang on ... ?!", A would reply if confronted with moods or opinions rather than facts. As a rule, A would then ask for figures and key data to provide orientation for his / her decision-making.
B („green“):
Security and order are important for B, who therefore avoids risks. B is cautious and puts quite a lot of effort into achieving clarity about a particular situation. "Yes, and what is the point of all that ...?" B would ask, or "... how is this going to be funded?"
C („red“):
C is communicative! C cultivates friendships, might play music with others, likes going out, enjoys meeting new people and signs contracts because the sales representative is nice - but not before consulting with friends. "Oh, we can do that ..." says C, and at a party C is an absolute hit.
D („yellow“):
D constantly has fascinating ideas, which are pursued without shying away from any risks - yet D is less concerned with the implementation in everyday life. D tends to follow spontaneous associations rather than formal logic. When shopping, D follows his / her creative impulse. As a project manager, we can hear D say "...great, we can do that!" or "...that will definitely work!"
And so you may ask, "which of these four thinking styles is mine?" Answer: All four!
We humans have this model available in our brain in the form of a mixture of the four "quadrants". And so all are consequently active in our thinking, acting and learning, but each is revealed to a different degree. Because their goal is to reach young people, pedagogues face a special challenge and opportunity in determining their own thinking style dominance. If a pupil is an A-type, how do I, a D-type, reach this person? In adult education, this question of addressing differently dominated types is also essential for the transfer of knowledge, ability and ambition.
Our list of questions and your answers may possibly help in this direction.

Test specifics:
In this test four responses in line with the basic positions according to Herrmann are available for different situations; each response is illustrated in the respective colour. You decide how many points (0 to 40) you would like to give the respective statement. Slide the pointer to the appropriate value or enter the value into the blank field.
A number of sets of four questions are available. Decide which ones are most important for you and skip the others. You should, however, evaluate at least eight groups of questions. You can 'cheat' as much as you like, but while you may have some superficial fun, you naturally will not gain any really interesting insights.
After you have completed the test, please take the time to read through the particular characteristics of each of the four "quadrants" again with your own test result in mind. You may then want to think about the test results and imagine how those of one of the pupils entrusted to you might look.
