- Good morning, pupils! I'm glad to see you. Who is on duty today? Thanks. Let’s start our lesson. The topic of our today's lesson is "Books are meant to read". Today we are going to speak about libraries, about our favorite books and book characters.

Let’s check your home task. You had to write something about your favorite book characters. I hope that you are ready with it. Who will be the first.

Let’s continue with the ex. 2 on p.52. There are different genres of books: romance, detective story, biography, science fiction, horror, adventure story, fantasy, fairy tale, history book

You see some questions on the blackboard. Now every two people will come to the blackboard and role play a little dialogue.

Work in groups.

All the pupils are divided into A and B. They all receive just the same text, but with different gaps. You must read the text, do the tasks: correct the sentences, match the words with their translations and make some questions for the other group. You can consult the English – Ukrainian Dictionary if you need.

My School Library.

Libraries make an important part of the world culture. There are infinite numbers of books in the world. We can not buy all the books we like and would like to read. When we have to write a report on some subject or to learn in details about some phenomenon there is no other way out for us but to use a library.

There are a lot of reading halls: special halls for scientific reference work, for current periodi­cals, for music and art, for foreign languages, and others. I visited it several times but most of­ten I take books from there.

To enter the library one should have a reading card.

A lot of people go to libraries on weekends. I like reading.

I can not read one and the same sort of literature for a long time. I prefer to alternate short stories with the novels, love stories with books on his­tory, poems with plays.

Pupils go to the library to read and take books, to look through some new magazines and news­papers. Many teachers go to the school library too.

Answer the questions:

1.Where do we go when we need to write a re­port on some subject? (We go to the library when we need to write a report on some subject.)

2.Can you buy all the books we like? (No, we can not. We can not buy all the books we like.)

4.How often did you visit reading halls? (I visited it several times but most of­ten I take books from there.)

5.When do a lot of people go to libraries?

7. What can you see in the library? (You can see a big light room with a lot of bookcases and bookshelves there.)

8. What kind of books can you find there?

9. Why do pupils go to the library? (Pupils go to the library to read and take books, to look through some new magazines and news­papers.)

10. Do the teachers go to the school library? (Yes, they do. Many teachers go to the school library.)

Your home task is Ex 3, 4 p. 53and to learn new vocabulary. On the next lesson we will have some new grammar material.
