Lexico-grammatical Transf
Antonumous Tr (антонимический перевод). There’s a group of Transf-s which may be of both lexical and gr-l nature. They involve a different arrangement of ideas, a different point of view and othe semantic modifications whenever a direct Tr of SLg unit proves impossible.
Ant. Tr. describes the situation from the opposite point of view and renders an affirmative SLg structure by a TLg one or on the contrary.
e.g.: Nothing changed in my home town. – Все осталось прежним в моем родном городе.
The door was not unbolted. - Дверь была на засове.
Explication (описательный перевод) – in this type of Trancf a SLg is replaced by the TLg word combination describing or defying its m-ing.
e.g.: A demonstration of British conservationists was held in Trafalgar Square yesterday. – Вчера на Трафальгарской площади состоялась демонстрация английских сторонников охраны окружающей среды.
3) Compensation (компенсация) – is a deliberate introduction of some additional elements in Tr to make up for the loss of similar elements at the same or an earlier stage.
e.g.: I’m nothing to you – not so much as them slippers. – Я для вас никто, хуже вот этих туфлей.
The linguistic error in untr-able and if it is not Tr-ed then the dialect himself becomes meaningless. The loss can be made by introducing a mistake. But its correction at a point when everything is correct in the original but where uneducated Rus speaker is likely to make it.
e.g.: I’m nothing to you – not so much as them slippers. – Я для вас никто, хуже вот этих туфлей.
