  1. Reading

Ex.6. Read and translate the following word combination:

Simple and complex units; complex devices; interconnection problem; long-distance officer; intercity transmission lines; automatic switchboards; connecting trunk; auxiliary equipment; new and original sounds.

High and low frequency energy; necessary amplifier parts; bad reception; oscillatory circuits; changing wave direction; wave modulation

Ex.7. Say what devices are described below:

The device consists of coils, a magnet, and a diaphragm. These parts are housed in a plastic cap. Ehen variable current passes through the magnet’s coils changes the position of the diaphragm. The diaphragm begins to oscillate.

Ex.8. Translate the text in written form; complete the tasks after the text:

ELECTRIC CIRCUIT

The purpose of the electrical source is to produce the necessary electromotive force required for the flow of current through the circuit.

The path along which the electrons travel must be complete otherwise no electric power can be supplied from the source to the load. Thus we close the circuit when we switch on our electric lamp.

If the circuit is broken or, as we generally say "opened" anywhere, the current is known to stop everywhere. We break the circuit when we switch off our electrical devices. Generally speaking, the current may pass through solid conductors, liquids, gases, vacuum, or any combination of these. It may flow in turn over transmission lines from the power-stations through transformers, cables and switches, through lamps, heaters, motors and so on.

There are various kinds of electric circuits such as: open circuits, closed circuits, series circuits, parallel circuits and short circuits.

- Write down the question and answer it in written form: What is an electric circuit?

- Make 5 questions to the given sentence: When electrical devices are connected so that the current flows from one device to another, they are said to be connected in series.

  1. Speaking

Ex.9. Answer the questions

  1. What part of the telephone is the receiver connected to ?

  2. What parts does the receiver consist of ?

  3. What parts are housed in the plastic cap ?

  4. What changes the position of the diaphragm ?

  5. What is the frequency of the oscillations ?

  6. Why does the diaphragm vibrate ?

  7. Why does the receiver reproduce the same sounds which are spoken into the microphone ?

Ex.8. Answer the questions

  1. Which device produces high-frequency energy?

  2. Which device receives radio waves?

  3. What necessary components has radio?

  4. What are parts of a transmitter?

  1. Writing

Ex.10. Write the Essay on the topic «My future career of a radio electrician» (minimum 200 words)
