Контрольна робота №1

Щоб правильно виконати контрольну роботу, необхідно засвоїти наступні розділи з граматичного курсу англійської мови (див. рекомендовану літературу):

1)Часові форми дієслова: a) активный стан дієслів в Simple Tense (Present, Past and Future); форми Continuous (Present, Past, Future); форми Perfect (Present, Past, Future);b) пасивний стан дієслів в Simple Tense (Present, Past and Future). Особливості перекладу пасивних конструкцій.

2)Прості неособові форми дієслова: Participle I (Present Participle) and Participle II (Past Participle) та їх функції у реченні. Participle I, Participle II у функціях означення та обставини.

3)Словоутворення: конверсія, суфікси прислівника (-ly) та іменника (-tion).

4). Модальні дієслова

а) що виражають можливість та їх еквіваленти (can, may);

б) що виражають необхідність та їх еквіваленти (must, should).

5). Зворот there + to be.

6). Словотворення: негативні префікси.

Варіант 1.

Вправа 1. Перепишіть наступні речення, підкресліть дієслово-присудок та визначте його часову форму й стан. Перекладіть речення на українську мову.

Приклад:

The new apparatus was sent for yesterday. Вчора послали за новим апаратом.

Вправа 2. Перепишіть наступні речення. Підкресліть Participle I & II та визначте функцію кожного з них, тобто вкажіть, чи є воно означенням, обставиною або частиною дієслова-присудка. Перекладіть речення на українську мову.

1. All parts of a plant must be developed well.

2. The sepal is the part protecting the inside of the flower.

3. The veins serve for the distribution of water and dissolved substances.

Вправа 3. Знайдіть у тексті 5 слів, утворених по конверсії та перекладіть їх у значенні іменника й дієслова.

Вправа 4. Утворіть прислівники та іменники за допомогою суфіксів та перекладіть їх:

• А.ly: usual, rapid, slow, high, wide

• В.tion: to produce, to collect, to distribute, to connect, to manufacture

Plant, its parts and functions

Plants are highly important sources of food for man. They supply us with clothing and many other things as well. Plants are grown and used for many purposes and as scientists continue their work new uses of plants will be found.

The principal parts of a plant are: 1) the root system, 2) the stems and leaves, 3) the reproductive part' made up of flowers, fruits or seeds.

The roots grow downward into the soil and have two main func­tions — to absorb plant nutrients and water from the soil and to anchor the plant. As to² stems and leaves, they are usually above the ground. The food used in growth by green plants is manufactured in the leaves from the raw materials taken from the soil and air. This process is known as photosynthesis. To support the leaves and to connect them with the roots are the main functions of the stem.

Each flowering plant has leaves. A typical leaf consists of a green, broad, thin portion, the blade, which contains a system of vascular tubes³ called veins. The latter serve as channels for the distribution of water and dissolved substances and for removing a part of the food which is manufactured in the leaves for the use by the plant.

The shape and the position of the leaves vary to a considerable extent with the species. Leaves may be borne on a leaf stem, or at­tached directly to the plant. They may be compound as with clovers and potatoes, or simple as in the case of the poplar tree.

A flower is the part of the plant where seeds are produced. Thus, to produce seeds the plant must have flowers.

A seed consists of an embryo, and one or more seed coats. All parts of a plant must be developed well and proportionally enough to function properly. If conditions for plant growth are bad, the plant will be too weak to develop its parts well.

1. When taken together the petals are referred to as the corolla.

2. Neither sepals or petals are directly involved in seed production.

3. The sepals are not brightly coloured in grasses including the common cereals.

Вправа 3. Знайдіть у тексті 5 слів, утворених по конверсії та перекладіть їх у значенні іменника й дієслова.
