MY NATIVE TOWN

I live in Berezne. Berezne is a small town. It is situated on the left bank of the river Sluch. It is the administrative center of the Berezne District (Rivne Region).

The streets of my town are straight, but not broad; they are not very long either. The streets are lined with trees.

There are many different shops in our town, such as grocery¹ and provision² shops, a greengrocer's shop³, a supermarket, a dairy shop⁴, a butcher’s shop , a department store, a gift shop, a haberdashery'⁵, a bookshop, a stationers shop⁷, household goods shop⁸, a sport goods shop and a furniture shop⁹, a footwear shop and some others.

As far as industrial enterprises are concerned we don’t have many of them. We only have a porcelain works¹⁰, a ready-made clothes factory¹¹, a match factory¹² and a foodstuffs factory¹³ and others.

Speaking about educational establishments we must say that in our town there are a secondary school. ? lycerrn, _a gymnasium, a boarding school¹⁴, a sports-lyceum, a music school, a forestry college, a college "Polissya" and a vocational school. There p-rc ⁴tt

There are some health service establishments in our town: a hospital, a maternity home¹⁵, a polyclinic, a dental polyclinic and some chemist's shops¹⁶.

We have also a post-office, two libraries (for grown-ups and for children), a house of culture, a cinema, a hotel, a restaurant, some cafes, some public service establishments such as watchmaker's shop, radio

and television repairs, dressmaking and clothes repairs, shoemaker's shop, hairdresser's¹⁷ and barber's shops¹⁸.

The people living in our town.have the opportunity of going in for sports. We have a sports complex which includes a sports hall, an indoor swimming pool, a town stadium and a rowing canal.

Our town is connected with other towns and cities by means of bus service. That's why we also have a bus station here.

There are many new blocks of flats and houses in our town. Most of the houses have gardens round them. A lot of houses are still being built in our town.

There is also a museum of local lore¹⁹ in our town.

If one wants to have a rest one may go to a town park or a dendropark which is near the forestry college.
