Raw materials refer to the substances used in manufacture, e.g. cotton is a raw material from which cloth is made.
A venture (n) is an undertaking in which there is risk. A venturer (n) is a merchant in former times who traded with distant countries. The word venturesome (adj) refers to a person who is ready to take risks.
