2.2. Порядок слов в английском простом повествовательном предложении

В английском языке отношения между членами предложения выражаются с помощью определенного порядка слов. Для английского предложения характерен следующий порядок слов:

Чтобы разобраться в строе английского предложения, сначала надо найти сказуемое, поскольку в большинстве случаев его можно «узнать» по вспомогательным глаголам (be, have, do, shall, will), по модальным глаголам (can, may, must), по глагольным окончаниям -s и –ed , по знакомым глаголам.

Согласно порядку слов слева от сказуемого на первом месте находится подлежащее. Оно обычно выражено существительным или местоимением, перед которыми не должно быть предлогов.

Задание 1. Определите согласно порядку слов, к каким членам предложения и частям речи относятся выделенные слова.

1. The farm breeds fur animals.

2. There are three main breeds of cattle in this country.

3. Their work yields wonderful results.

4. Yields grow from year to year.

Breed – выращивать, порода; fur – пушной; cattle – крупный рогатый скот; yields – зд. приносить, урожай

1. -Do you like travelling? -Yes, I do. I like to travel with my family or friends, it's fun and useful. -Why is it useful? -You can see the world and visit museums. You also get closer together.. -Where have you travelled? -I have visited several Russian cities situated not far from St. Petersburg. -How did you travel? -To Novgorod, Pskov and Luga we went by local trains. -Have you ever travelled by sea? -Yes, two times. -What was the most exotic trip? -I can name two of my trips exotic, though they were very short. The first I made on a horseback and the other - by helicopter! --Have you ever travelled abroad? -No, I haven't. I hope when I am at the university, I will earn some money for a trip at least to Finland or Turkey. It'll help me improve my English, because there I shall speak mostly English. -What English-speaking countries would you like to visit? -I'd like to visit Great Britain and the USA, of course.

-What other countries would you like to visit? -France, because of its beautiful scenery and wonderful museums. I would also be happy to see Paris with the Louvre and other famous buildings.

2. Hobby.

-Have you chosen your hobby? -No, I haven't. I did not choose my hobby. I got interested in collecting postcards occasionally.

-Do you like making things? -Well... I can sew a little, and I knit rather well.
