Studies generally last between four and five academic years and qualify students for various professions. Many well-known scientists teach at our University. We have good libraries and reading-halls and for those who go in for sports there are good gymnasiums and a stadium. The students enjoy all the privilege of our University-there is no fee for the use of reading rooms, libraries and sports and cultural facilities at the University. There are also several hostels where students from other cities live. Our studies begin at 8.00 o’clock, usually we have six hours (periods) a day. Our auditoriums and laboratories are large and light. Our computer classrooms, laboratories are equipped with up-to-date equipment and there students can carry on lab works and conduct various experiments. The academic session begin on the first of September and will end in June. There is also a students’ research society at the University stimulating their creative thinking and scientific work. The students are involved in research work to gain practical skills in their areas of study. Every faculty has its own specialized library, laboratories, workshops and computer centers.
The first- and second-year students study general engineering subjects (общетехнические предметы). In the third year students begin to study specialized subjects.

Not every student can hope to become a Galileo; but to be a scientist is not to know what Galileo knew and more, it is to be able to understand, within the limits of one's capacity, how men like Galileo think.
What students will need above all is intellectual skills. They must be trained to think. We teach the humanities because, in these studies, we introduce our pupils to the various ways, good and bad, in which men have thought about the social, moral, political, intellectual, and aesthetic problems of human life; and again, it is not the conclusions that the great thinkers arrived at that matter; it is the ways in which they arrived at them.
The aim, then, is clear .It is not to teach literature, history, or philosophy, but to teach those skills that are required for living. But it is no accident that literature, history, and philosophy have always been the main ingredients of education in the humanities. For these subjects include the main ways in which ( apart from science ) the human mind has manifested itself; it is in these fields that creative imagination, practical wisdom-(мудрость), logical thought, and their opposites have been most obviously and powerfully displayed.
