Text 1: My postgraduate study

I am a first year postgraduate student of the Perm State Agricultural Academy. I passed three entrance examinations – in philosophy, English and the special subject. I have decided to go to a graduate school because I want to be engaged in scientific activity.

In the course of my postgraduate studies I am to pass the candidate examinations in philosophy, English and the special subject. So I attend the courses of English and philosophy. I'm sure the knowledge of English will help me in my research.

My research deals with agriculture. The (approximate) theme of my thesis is «Methods to improve the system of …». I was interested in the problem when a student so by now I have collected some valuable data for my thesis. My work is both of theoretical and practical importance.

I work in close contact with my research supervisor. He is Doctor of Agriculture, professor and head of the department at our Academy. He has published over 100 research papers in journals not only in this country but also abroad and is the editor of three books. He often takes part in the work of scientific conferences and symposia. When I encounter difficulties in my work I always consult my research supervisor.

At present I am engaged in collecting the necessary data. I often work in the libraries, review the agricultural literature and plan my future research work. I hope it will be a success and I will be through with my work on time.
