1. Зверніть увагу на вживання (чи відсутність) прийменників у виразах часу:

in – для означення періоду часу довшого чи коротшого ніж день: in winter, in summer, in the morning – вранці, in the evening – ввечері, in a minute – через хвилину.

at – для означення точки часу: at this time – в цей час, at five – о 5-й годині.

2. two days a week — два дні на тиждень; this summer— цього літа. Зверніть увагу на відсутність прийменника перед іменниками week и summer.

3. too busy — надто зайнятий

4. to miss a family (a place, etc.) — сумувати за сім’єю ...

5. to enter University — вступати до університету

Зверніть увагу на відсутність прийменника після дієслова to enter.

Nick’s father’s story

Some people like to live in big cities and towns, but I don't. Life in big places is too busy for me. I don't like busy streets with plenty of cars, people and much noise. I like village life.

I live in a village next to the Black Sea. Sometimes I think that you cannot find a place as lovely as my village in the whole world. We villagers get up early in the morn­ing with the sunrise. I like to watch how the sun rises in the east. In the evenings I watch how the sun sets in the west behind the sea. Can the town people ever watch sun­rises and sunsets, I wonder? I think they cannot! They are too busy in the day-time and they don't get up as early as we villagers do!

I have got a large family. My wife and I work on the farm. We have got four children — two boys and two girls. The boys' names are Max and Nick. The girls' names are Anna and Helen.

Max works on the farm like his father and mother do. He says he loves his native village and he likes his job.

Nick doesn't live with the family. He is a student in Kyiv. We seldom see him, though he writes letters to us every two weeks. He writes that he misses us and the village badly.

Anna lives in town. She is a factory worker. That's the factory that makes cameras. She says that she likes her job and the town life. She finds that the village life is a bit dull. Though, I think she misses the village too. She comes to see us every weekend. They work only five days a week at the factory, so she stays with the family two days a week and helps on the farm.

Helen goes to school. I think she spends too much time at TV. She watches TV programs every evening, though she finds time for lessons too. She is the first in the class. She wants to enter the Technological University this summer.
