THE TOUR GUIDE

The tour guide is also called the tour conductor.

He/she handles tour groups. He/she shows tourists round a city, a sight, or a museum. The tour guide conducts sightseeing tours or tours of museums and exhibitions.

The tour guide accompanies tourists during a local tour or during the whole travel. He/ she caters to the needs of tourists and deals with all their problems.

The tour guide speaks the language of the tourists perfectly well. If a tour guide doesn’t know the language of the tourists, the company invites a guide-interpreter. Then the tour guide and the guide-interpreter work together.

The tour guide translates from one language to another and answers the questions of tourists.

He/she knows a lot on history, geography, art and culture. He/she must know well all sights in the destination perfectly.

The tour guide is an easy-going person. This person must be healthy, active, have a neat and nice appearance. This job requires from the tour guide good speaking and oratory skills, correct pronunciation, sense of humor, politeness and tolerance.

Tourists always tip their guides if they like them.
