Unit 15. Travelling. Travelling by train.

Travelling by train is slower than by plane but it has its own advantages. When on the train you can always see the country side around you, so if you are going on a holiday trip your holidays have already begun, allowing you also to see more different places. Besides that, trains are cheaper than planes.

To have a good trip by train you must book tickets in advance. When the day of your departure comes, you go the railway station, which is usually closer to your home than the airport. The porter helps you with your luggage. You go to your carriage, show your ticket to the guard and find out if you have a lower or upper berth in your compartment. Each compartment has its own window, a table, a place for suitcases and, of course, four berths.

If you are hungry, you go to the dining car, which is usually in the middle of the train. In the train you may read, admire the beauty of the changing views, talk to your fellow-passengers or just sleep if you are tired. In any case your trip will be pleasant.
